Abstract:
Over the past ten years, numerous sectors have undergone significant digital transformations. Despite this, the broader impacts of such transformations have not been thoroughly investigated. This paper addresses this gap by examining the economic impact of digitization within the real estate sector. We utilize a unique dataset from property management firms that have implemented management software to analyze the effects of digitization on housing prices. Our findings reveal that digitization leads to an approximate 3% increase in property transaction prices. Furthermore, this effect increases with greater levels of digitization. We uncover the novel mechanism through which digitization contributes to the economic value of properties.
