[Film screening] An Autumn Afternoon
Mar. 26, 2025

Time: 18:30 p.m., March 26, 2025

Venue: PKU Hall

Abstract: Known for consummately capturing the subtlety in family relations, director Yasujiro Ozu has integrated his own life tragedies and reflections into this must-watch Japanese masterpiece, set in the dizzying days of Tokyo in the 1960s. Amplifying the small things in life, this film touchingly illustrates the profound love between parents and children and their agony at the inevitable departure. After the screening, Prof. Dai Jinhua, a distinguished film scholar from Department of Chinese Language and Literature, will give her commentary, exploring the film’s aesthetics, cultural significance, and narrative depth.
