[Lecture] Modelling Neural Disorders Using Human Pluripotent Stem Cells
Apr. 09, 2025

Speaker: Hyunsoo Shawn Je (Duke-NUS Medical School)

Time: 13:00 - 14:30 p.m., Apr 9, 2025, GMT+8

Venue: Rm. 101, Jin-Guang Life Science Building, PKU

Abstract:

The ability to make functional neural cells from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) provides a unique opportunity to study human brain development and neural disorders. In this seminar, I will present recent findings from our laboratory -1) the direct induction and functional maturation of human forebrain glutamatergic and GABAergic neurons derived from hPSCs (Sun et al., 2016), 2) the generation of human midbrain-like organoids from hPSCs (Jo et al., 2016; Kwak et al., 2020), and 3) their utilities in modelling human brain disorders (Sun et al., 2019).
