Abstract:

This talk will introduce the central questions related to AI welfare, the emergence of AIs that matter morally. The talk will lay out some of the main approaches to thinking about AI welfare in philosophy, cognitive science, and the law. It will also discuss legal and cultural implications of AI welfare, such as whether to grant AIs property and contract rights.
