About the Speaker
Marc David Baer is a professor and Head of Department of International History at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He specializes in the early modern and modern history of Europe and the Middle East, with a focus on the Ottoman Empire, Turkey, Germany, and Muslim-Jewish relations. He is the author of seven books. His 2021 book, The Ottomans: Khans, Caesars, and Caliphs, was shortlisted for the Wolfson History Prize and has since been translated into twelve languages. His most recent work, Children of Abraham: The Story of Jewish-Muslim Relations, was named a Financial Times Book to Read in 2026.
