Peking University, Beijing, June 7, 2010: On May 29, the first PKU overseas alumni dinner party initiated by PKU Overseas Study Association was held at the Lake View Hotel. Prof. Li Qiang, Assistant President of PKU, Prof. Zhu Tianbiao, Vice Dean of the School of Government, Prof. Zha Daojiong of the School of International Studies, and Guo Xiaochun, Youth League Secretary of the School of Foreign Languages attended the banquet. Some of the undergraduates who had been admitted to prestigious universities abroad were also invited to the party.

Special guests including former President Xu Zhihong and former Vice President Hao Bin addressed the banquet through video and expressed their congratulations to the promising graduates who would pursue their study abroad.

At the banquet, the first PKU Overseas Alumni Association was established. Official from State-owned Assets Administration and Supervision Committee Mr. Wang Wenlong and President of PKU Overseas Study Association Kuang Jing jointly unveiled the logo of the association. PKU Overseas Alumni Association aims to connect PKU alumni overseas and the new graduates who are going to further study abroad, set up an alumni network to exchange information and build relations. It is also intended to help the students who hoped to study abroad to acquire information and guidance from their overseas alumnus.

The party enjoyed a lively atmosphere. Through several interesting games, participants quickly broke the ice and communicated with each other freely. At the end of the party, students had the chance to communicate with the guests and professors, taking group pictures with them and exchanging contact information.

The banquet was designed to broaden the international horizon of PKU students, promote communications between the young elites and build the bridge between overseas alumnus and students on campus. The party also enriched students’ social experiences.
