Peking University, April 11, 2023: A fresh cuppa is best paired with a cappella music. (Editor's note: A cappella describes a purely vocal performance.) On the evening of April 6, the “A Cappella Night” event was hosted at the Art Café in the Peking University Hall. Co-organized by A Cappella PKU and PKU Hall, the event was graced by Wang Bei, director of the Particle Art Laboratory and instructor for A Cappella PKU.

During her opening speech, Wang applauded A Cappella PKU for providing a platform for music lovers since its founding in 2009, a pioneer among Chinese universities. She hoped that such events would continue to spread joy to teachers and students on campus.

The first performance that evening was delivered by Paca Vocals, who captivated the audience with four alluring songs of different styles. They performed the songs “We don’t talk about Bruno,” “Cheerleader,” “Rosemary(迷迭香),” and “Proverbs of Love(爱的箴言)."

The second performance by Sunday Hao saw the audience serenaded with four ballads--“That’s Christmas to Me,” “Safe & Sound,” “One Hundred Years of Solitude(百年孤寂) ,” and “Ap Jie Lop (Translation: “Don’t be afraid”)," bringing down the atmosphere with a softer tone.

The climax of the evening was brought by the final group of performers, SEAbling. The four works they brought are “Best Part, “カタオモイ” (Translation: Unrequited Love), “Spring Breeze(望春风) ,” and “Take Me Home.” From R&B to Japanese pop, they took the audience on an emotional rollercoaster ride through different music genres.

At the end of the night, A Cappella PKU delivered an encore performance “Little Love Song (小情歌)," wrapping up the successful event.
