Peking University, October 11, 2023: The Chinese National Women's Rugby Team, fresh off their triumphant win in the women's rugby sevens at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China's Zhejiang Province, paid a visit to Peking University on October 9, 2023. The warm invitation came from the Peking University Rugby Association and the Peking University Rugby Team, who hosted an interactive session, including a rugby match, with the rugby champions.
During the women's rugby sevens competition in Hangzhou, the "cloud Asian Games" technology took center stage, with the gold medal match broadcast live using this cutting-edge technology on September 26 at the Cangqian Campus of Hangzhou Normal University. This innovative viewing experience provided a global audience with a unique opportunity to appreciate the athletes' skills and tenacity as they competed intensely. It was a captivating showdown as the Chinese team turned the tables on Japan, who had bested them in the gold medal final five years earlier in Jakarta. The match, played before an enthusiastic crowd at Hangzhou Normal University, was a testament to the unwavering spirit of the Chinese women's rugby team.
The Chinese and Japanese teams clashed in an exhilarating women's rugby sevens final, showcasing an exceptional level of talent, grit, and cooperation from both sides. In a nail-biting contest, the Chinese women's rugby team emerged victorious with a final score of 22-21, displaying their resilience and determination in the face of fierce competition.
According to Lin Xiaohua, director of the National Olympic Sports Centre in Beijing, the victory will boost rugby in China, particularly in Hangzhou. "This field will serve as a hub for nurturing rugby and football across two other campuses in Hangzhou, in addition to this one. China's gold medal win is a momentous inspiration for the 30,000 students at this university," said Lin, who was responsible for the meticulous planning of the rugby competitions at the Asian Games.
The Chinese women's rugby team's achievement at the Asian Games will go down in history as a noteworthy accomplishment. It highlighted the team's high level of talent and tenacity and considerably improved their position in the Games. This victory serves as motivation for aspiring athletes and a reminder of the value of commitment and cooperation. The victory has positive effects on the development of women's rugby in China as well.
It also demonstrates the potential for rugby in this nation to advance and flourish, and it may encourage more young girls to play the sport. The victory might also result in additional funding and support for women's rugby in China, raising the game to new heights.

For me, it was a really important experience to meet the Chinese Women's National Rugby Team. First of all, the players' commitment and spirit of fighting inspired me greatly. They work incredibly hard every day to represent China in international contests. The players' tenacity and sense of camaraderie are the secret to their success. Secondly, after interacting with the players and knowing their methods and experiences on the field, I have a greater understanding of rugby's rules and tactics. Both physical stamina and endurance as well as a high level of coordination and tact are necessary for success in the game. They have worked hard; I want to reiterate that for the motherland-representing women's rugby team.

It was a very informative session at Peking University with the women's rugby team, the champions of the 19th Asian Games. I had the chance to engage in lengthy conversations with the players, which helped me a lot and enabled me to understand the spiritual meaning behind Mr. Cai Yuanpei's proverb "Complete personality, first in sports." The winners discussed their love of rugby as well as their training and competition experiences. I was able to gain a deeper grasp of the sport as well as a sense that people in all professions have their own interests and goals, thanks to these experiences and anecdotes. Additionally, it increased my appreciation for diversity and gave me the confidence to take risks and venture into unexplored areas.

On that particular day, I had my first encounter with the Chinese National Rugby Team. Previously, I had believed that the Japanese rugby team was the only one of its kind in Asia, but the Chinese team had defeated the Japanese team due to their powerful skills and sound talents.

I had the privilege of taking part in the Women's Rugby Team gathering. The entire process was quick and extremely enjoyable and intriguing. We hope to have more events like this in the future that are both engaging and important.

I'm happy to witness the successful female rugby players because this is my first interaction with a rugby team and my first opportunity to enjoy its charm and excitement. I joked to my friends yesterday that playing against the national team in my debut was the greatest. I joined the Peking University Rugby Club right away after the event in an effort to learn more about the game. We appreciate the rugby team and the physical education teachers for organizing this event!
