Editor's note: Cycling or rambling around Yanyuan Garden in late November, you can feel two seasons at once, overlapping, overlaying one another. The intermittent soft radiance from the sun is reminiscent of late fall, warmer than ever, while the freezing Weiming Lake, carpeted by twigs, leaf litter, and recent snowflakes, hurries you to early winter.
Yanyuan Garden at the intersection of two seasons resembles a magical multilayered terrarium. Leaves are raining, swirling down from deciduous trees, as bamboo, shrubs, and evergreens keep rustling with the wind. Ducks and black swans are migrating, but magpies and crows remain here chirping. Whatever the season, Yanyuan Garden never lacks allure and luster.
