Peking University, Beijing, May,4th, 2010: With the approaching of May 1st, the International Labor Day, PKU Labor Union has made careful arrangements and paid visits to 56 PKU national and provincial model workers and advanced workers, extending holiday greetings to them and all the faculty and teaching staff at PKU.
On April 27th and 28th , Sun Li, Executive Vice President of PKU Labor Union, Chi Chunxia, Executive Vice President of PKU Labor Union, Wang Hongbo and Zhang Lina called on Sun Qixiang from School of Economics, Jiang Boju from School of Mathematical Science, Gao Chongshou from School of Physics, Hua Huizhen from College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering and other model workers, conveying warmest regards to them, expressing thanks for their long-time, outstanding contributions.
The model workers received fresh flowers and special gifts from the group representing PKU Labor Union and had cordial conversations with them. Sun Li, Executive Vice President of PKU Labor Union, warmly enquired about the health, life and work of the model workers and expressed heartfelt appreciation to them for their devotion and contribution over the years.
Sun Li, Executive Vice President of PKU Labor Union made a brief introduction of the progress of work in Labor Union and listened carefully to model workers’ valuable suggestions concerning how to develop “The Family of Teaching Staff” and other issues. Some model workers are still working in their respective positions and some have already retired but still show great care for the development of the university and spare no effort to make contributions to the development of society as well as PKU. While being deeply grateful for Labor Union’s care, model workers made a common wish that Peking University would become better and better.
Around 10 a.m. April 28th, PKU Labor Union visiting group paid a visit to Prof. Chen Kunqiu at the Institute of Computer Science and Technology of PKU, wife to Academician Wang Xuan，one of the national model workers. They all sat around in the previous office of Academician Wang Xuan, and reminisced his lifetime, contributions and great personal charisma. Sun Li asked about Prof. Chen’s health, showing genuine respects and appreciation to Mr. Wang and Prof. Chen on behalf of PKU teachers and students. Afterwards, PKU Labor Union group went on a visit to Wang Xuan Memorial Hall and at the same time signed on the memory book in honor of the late scientist.
Liu Huarong, PKU School of Mathematical Science Party Secretary and Wang Dongyun, Director of Staff Activities Organization Division of Labor Union also attended the visiting activity.
