Intro: In this study, we testify the hypotheses that the mutual investment form of employment system (an employment relationship where the employer expects great contributions from employees and provides long-term, extensive inducements to employees), relative to other forms, is positively related with team-work creativity, with the mediation of the density of the work-related team communication network. Another hypothesis is that the advantages of higher communication network density would be stronger in work teams with higher task complexity, We found support for these hypotheses in a two-wave study of 233 work teams in 55 Chinese organizations. A discussion of this study’s implications on employment relationships will be provided.
