Peking University, June 23, 2025: Trouncing their opponent Huaqiao University 78-48, PKU men’s basketball team cruised to the CUBAL D1 championship title on the night of June 22, powering their alma mater to double glory following the women’s team’s win on June 6. The last time PKU won championships in both divisions was 11 years ago.

Kicking off the game with great poise, the PKU boys led their opponents 21-7 already after the first quarter, riding on three successful free throws from Angsaer Muheyati and one deep 3-pointer from Guan Ziyu.

Though trailing slightly behind Huaqiao in the second quarter, the PKU boys continued to put on their A-game, dictating the tempo with excellent skills such as Angsaer Muheyati’s euro step and Guan Ziyu’s legendary block—dazzling hoops fans with wild energy.

Capping off PKU’s thrilling victory, Guan Ziyu was awarded the MVP title based on his 30 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. “I attribute my MVP title to my coaches and teammates,” said Guan in an after-game interview. “I love the convivial basketball culture on campus, and I will continue to learn after I join CBA.”

This victory secures the PKU men’s basketball team’s fifth national title—marking the first time in 11 years that both the men’s and women’s teams have won championships in the same season. The women’s team has claimed three national titles in that span.
