Editor’s note: From an AI system that can detect scientific laws by itself to a new catalyst that makes for cheaper and greener chemical manufacturing, PKU this year abounds in momentous, game-changing scientific breakthroughs that push the boundaries of what’s possible. Of course, standing behind these successes are the intrepid researchers who have braved the storms of failure for the merest chance of reaching the other side.
