Peking University, August 6, 2026: Peking University (PKU) men's basketball Team B recently finished in the top 4 and won first prize honors at the 2026 International University Basketball Invitational Tournament, held at the University of Macau last month.

The tournament, part of the University of Macau's 45th anniversary celebrations, brought together men's basketball teams from institutions including the University of Cambridge, the University of Sydney, Nanyang Technological University, Seoul National University, Chulalongkorn University, and universities from China's C9 League.
Led by coach Zhang Ge, the PKU team was composed of undergraduate and graduate students who were not sports majors and were from various departments. They competed against the University of Cambridge, Chulalongkorn University, the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the University of Sydney, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
In the group stage, PKU opened with a hard-fought 49–43 win over the University of Cambridge, overcoming a significant height disadvantage through tenacious defense. Against Chulalongkorn University, whose roster included several former Thai national youth team players, PKU trailed for much of the game before a buzzer-beating layup secured a dramatic 62–61 comeback victory. The team then defeated the University of Science and Technology of China 79–65, finishing the group stage undefeated and advancing to the semifinals as the group leader.
In the semifinal, PKU faced Australian national champion, the University of Sydney, and put up a spirited fight but fell short. In the third-place match against Shanghai Jiao Tong University, though fatigued from consecutive high-intensity games, PKU players fought to the final whistle, ultimately finishing fourth overall while earning first prize honors.
Beyond competition, the tournament offered a platform for cross-cultural exchange, with players from different countries sharing insights on training and campus sports culture. The honor also reflected Peking University's commitment to physical education as an integral part of a student’s overall development.
