Peking University, June, 4, 2012: The international seminar focusing on “changes of women’s role in the context of globalization” was jointly held by Peking University (PKU) Center for Chinese and Foreign Women Studies, Gender Research Center of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Keimyung University of Korea from May 24 to 25. This year marked the 5th anniversary of this seminar.
The seminar
Scholars and students from China, the United States, Korea and Japan participated in it.
Four topics were discussed on the seminar. They were globalization and gender equality, globalization and East-Asian female immigrants, gender equality and welfare policy, and gender strategy in the context of Neoliberalism.

PKU professors made speeches concerning China’s status quo, for example, “analysis on the development of China’s gender equality”, “Chinese family policies in the national transformation”, “family life of left-behind women in the countryside”.
