Peking University, October 20, 2021:
The first Huairou Forum, jointly organized by Peking University,
Huairou District People's Government of Beijing and Huairou Science City
Management Committee, was held in Yanqi Hujing Hotel. Chair of the PKU
Council Qiu Shuiping, Director of the China Center for Disease Control
and Prevention Gao Fu, Director of the Division of Life Sciences
Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China Li Peng,
Director of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission Liu Yuhui, and
other leaders attended the opening ceremony of the forum. Qiao Jie,
director of the Peking University Health Science Center, presided over
the opening ceremony.
Opening ceremony of the forum
The two-day forum aims to focus on the field of life and health and
explore the use of advanced biomedical imaging research facilities to
discover core scientific issues. The forum invited more than 150 famous
experts and scholars in relevant fields to conduct in-depth exchanges
and discussions in the form of academic reports and round table
discussions.
Qiu Shuiping mentioned that in the field of life and health, Peking
University has implemented the "clinical medicine + X" plan and
established the Institute of Future Technology to undertake the mission
of the new era and aim to be at the forefront of science and technology
globally and create a highland of scientific and technological
innovation.
Qiu Shuiping's speech
After the opening ceremony, the leaders and guests visited the material
genome platform of Huairou Science City, inspected the construction site
of multimodal cross-scale biomedical imaging facilities, and had a
discussion with the person in charge of the construction. Qiu Shuiping
affirmed the early construction of facilities and hoped that all parties
would communicate more to solve problems in time, control the budget,
and do a good job in the connection between infrastructure construction,
equipment procurement, and installation integration in the later stage.
Ding Mingda introduces the planning of Huairou Science City
Biomedical imaging technology is one of the core driving forces to
promote the progress from the discovery of basic physical and biological
principles to medical practice. With the support of the National
Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education, the
Chinese Academy of Sciences and Beijing Municipality, Peking University
joined forces with other academies to build a national major scientific
and technological infrastructure: the Huairou Science City. At present,
in order to further participate in the construction of Huairou Science
City, Peking University is actively preparing to build Huaimi medical
center and nuclide probe platform, a supporting auxiliary facility for
imaging facilities like Huairou Science City.
