China Daily and Peking University sign strategic cooperation agreement

Peking University, November 5, 2021:
On November 2, the signing ceremony of a strategic cooperation
agreement between China Daily and Peking University took place at the
Linhuxuan, Peking University. Hao Ping, president of Peking University,
and Zhou Shuchun, chief editor of China Daily, held a conference and
reached consensus on the cooperation in fields including media
integration, public relation, international communication, and social
service.

Hao Ping warmly welcomed Zhou Shuchun and his party. He said that China
Daily, as China's only state-level English daily newspaper, has been
actively publicizing and interpreting the core ideas of socialism with
Chinese characteristics in the new era. With its strong influence at
home and abroad, it has become an important channel leading to mutual
understanding between China and the world. Hao Ping thanked China Daily
for its full support for the work of Peking University. He hoped that
the signing of the agreement would serve as an opportunity to establish
long-term strategic cooperative relations with China Daily, so that the
two could explore a more diversified model of cooperation in
international communication based on their respective advantages.
Zhou Shuchun thanked Peking University for its long-standing support for
China Daily. He said as 2021 marks the 40th anniversary of the China
Daily, President Xi Jinping confirmed its important role over the past
40 years, and expected it to continue its mission at the new starting
point and to make more contributions. He also said that Peking
University, as one of China's top universities, had carried out
meaningful exploration and practice in the field of international
communication. Zhou hoped the cooperation would form a strong joint
force to promote the construction of a strategic communication system
with Chinese characteristics and contribute to mutual communication
between China and the world.
Wang Bo, vice president of Peking University, and Zhu Baoxia, editorial
board member and chief secretary of China daily signed the cooperation
agreement on behalf of the two sides. Hao Ping and Zhou Shuchun
exchanged gifts. After the signing ceremony, Zhou Shuchun and his party
visited the exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the CPC at
Peking University Library.
