Peking University, November 8, 2021: On the 1st of November, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the IDG McGovern Institute for Brain Research at PKU, IDG Capital once again donated to the institute, continuing its support.
PKU’s President Hao Ping described IDG Capital’s renewed support for
PKU’s brain research as a display of its long-term strategic vision and
corporate social responsibility. He acknowledged the IDG McGovern
Institute for Brain Research’s stellar work in the past ten years,
yielded through cross-disciplinary research combining neuroscience,
cognitive sciences, medicine, chemistry, physics, and more. Not only did
they advance PKU’s brain science research, but related sciences have
also been driven forward alongside them. Hao reiterated PKU’s commitment
towards promoting brain science research and providing researchers with
enough space to freely pursue ideas, projects and breakthroughs.
PKU Vice President Zhang Pingwen also commended the institute’s clear
research direction, effective organisation and noteworthy findings, all

The IDG McGovern Institute for Brain Research at PKU was established in
2011 with contributions from Mr. McGovern and IDG Capital. They are a
team of scientists from diverse backgrounds, with faculty members from
biology, cognitive sciences, psychology, genetics, modern imaging,
psychophysics, and more. Their research adopts an interdisciplinary
approach and is centered on understanding fundamental processes
underlying brain functions and uncovering mechanisms of brain disorders.
With strong support from PKU, the institute has produced cutting-edge
results recognised globally. The institute also places great concern in
cultivating new scientists, constantly enhancing its talent programs.
Looking ahead, the institute will continue to unravel the boundless
mysteries of the human brain. Reinforced by IDP Capital, research
efforts will be accelerated and aimed at deciphering the brain and
neurotic disorders, delivering significant findings, and applying those
findings in medicine for the betterment of human welfare.
