Peking University, November 19, 2021: On November 7, 2021, the first Annual Meeting of the Health Communication Professional Committee of the Chinese Association for History of Journalism and Communication (CAHJC) and the fourth "Medical, Humanities and Media: Healthy China and Health Communication” International Conference (MHM 2021) was held online, undertaking by PKU School of Journalism and Communication (PKUSJC). The conference attracted more than 200 participants from 47 universities and research institutes domestic and overseas.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Xu Jing, head of PKUSJC Health Communication MA Program. Professor Lu Shaoyang, dean of PKUSJC, delivered a speech on behalf of the undertaker. He mentioned Academician Han Qide, founder of PKU health communication major, who expected health communication to adopt an experiential learning style for talent cultivation. PKUSJC has stuck to this expectation and achieved fruitful results. He also hoped the program to further promote talents training in Health Communication in China and contribute to the implementation of the Healthy China Strategy.
Hu Qiangqiang, spokesperson of the China National Health Commission, delivered a speech through a video clip. He pointed out that he hopes that the research results of this conference can be applied to social practice and promote the orderly development of society.
The People's Daily Health Client Scholarship Awarding Ceremony was held at the meeting. Zhao Anping, deputy editor-in-chief of the People’s Daily Health Client, emphasized that in the future, they will take scholarship and project cooperation as the grasp to continuously improve the scale and grade of cooperation and promote the development of health communication major.
Professor Wu Jing, vice dean of PKUSJC expressed her hope in the awarding speech that Health Communication Project can integrate better with the coming PKUSJC International Journalism and Communication Project, so as to contribute to the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
The keynote speech session was hosted by Sun Shaojing, president of the Health Communication Professional Committee of the CAHJC. A total of 4 foreign professors gave speeches, namely they are Professor Rajiv N. Rimal and Professor Joanna Cohen from Johns Hopkins University, Professor Brian Quick from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Professor Carma Bylund from the College of Medicine, University of Florida.
The conference included 12 sub-venues and selected more than 60 papers out of more than 260 submissions after the review by experts. The conference also cooperated with CNKI and the selected papers with authorization of the authors will be included in the China Proceedings of Conference Full-text Database (CPCD) of CNKI free of charge.
