Peking University: November 24, 2021: On November 19, 2021, the first "Dialogue on Humanities at PKU and UGR", sponsored by the Office of Confucius Institute and co-sponsored by the Confucius Institute at the University of Granada (UGR) in Spain and the PKU School of Foreign Languages, was held in PKU.
The theme of this year’s dialogue is "Literature Translation and Introduction- A Bridge between the Two Worlds". More than 100 teachers and students at home and abroad tuned in to the lectures.

Zhao Zhenjiang, Professor from the Spanish, Portuguese and Italian Department of the PKU School of Foreign Languages reviewed the development history of literary translation in China for 2,000 years with an emphasis on how the most well-known works of Spanish Literature, Don Quixote, has been translated into different versions in Chinese.
Alicia Relinque Eleta, professor at UGR Faculty of Philosophy and Literature and Sinologist, gave a lecture entitled "Drama-Poetic Journey of Human Nature: Talking about Drama Translation and Introduction". She explained her views on drama literature translation from different perspectives of theory and practice.

Yu Shiyang, deputy dean of PKU School of Foreign Languages delivered a report on "Seeing My Face in Your Eyes-A Hundred Years of Chinese Translation of Spanish Literature". She compared Latin American with Spanish literature translation and introduction, and analyzed the trend and causes of Spanish literature translation while introducing China's publishing market in recent years.
Belén Cuadra Mora is part of the new generation of Spanish translators of Chinese works. The theme of her report is "Translation and Introduction of Contemporary Chinese Literature into Spanish". She introduced the current situation of Spanish translation of Chinese literature and sinology, pointing out the optimistic prospect of Chinese contemporary literary works as they gain recognition among Spanish readers and publishing houses.
The online participants had a question-and-answer session with experts and scholars and had extensive and in-depth discussions.
Participating students and guest scholars
The purpose of this dialogue is to build a bridge for cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. Guest professors believed that "the dialogue will continue", with their confidence stemming from the solid cooperation between Peking University and UGR in the past 40 years.
