Peking University, December 17, 2021: On December 10, 2021, the 6th “Belt and Road” International Youth Forum and the 2021 “Belt and Road” University Alliance Forum were held both online and offline. Vice President Wang Bo attended the offline opening ceremony.
Wang Bo delivered a speech on the behalf of Peking University, noting that Peking University has actively responded to the “Belt and Road Initiative” by conducting various educational and cultural exchanges with countries along the “Belt and Road”. Subsequently, he introduced the projects and activities organized by Peking University in construction, talent cultivation, scientific research and people-to-people exchanges. In 2009, Peking University signed a strategic alliance agreement with Gansu Province, agreeing that both parties work together to further promote exchanges between universities in countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt.

Under the witness of leaders, guests, representatives from alliance universities, and participants of the forum, the flag handover took place in the opening ceremony, marking the launch of both events.
Background Information
The “Belt and Road” Youth Forum was jointly founded by the “One Belt and One Road” Research Institute of South Korea and the Korea-China Cultural Friendship Association in 2018. For the last five years, it has been held annually in cities in China and Korea. The forum is dedicated to providing young scholars from all over the world a platform to discuss and propose solutions to major issues concerning the “Belt and Road” Initiative, international cooperation and the international community.
The “Belt and Road” University Alliance was initiated by Lanzhou University in October 2015. Its founding members include 47 Chinese universities and 8 foreign universities from countries and regions along the “Belt and Road”. The alliance has since expanded to 178 universities from 27 countries and regions. Since 2016, the “Belt and Road” University Alliance holds forums every year with different themes and has also organized academic forums, youth summits, among many other events.
