Peking University, December 24, 2021: On December 15, 2021, as a special forum of Beijing Forum 2021, the “Future-oriented Transnational Higher Education in Asia” International Symposium hosted by the CAMPUS Asia China Secretariat was held at Peking University. The symposium was attended online and offline by 180 delegates from 23 Chinese universities and 31 foreign universities and affiliated institutions in Japan, Korea, and ASEAN countries. The delegates reviewed the development of CAMPUS Asia in the past 10 years and discussed the future trajectory of transnational higher education in Asia. The opening ceremony was hosted by Xia Hongwei, director of Office of International Relations of Peking University and Secretary General of the CAMPUS Asia China Secretariat.
Yan Bingchen, deputy director of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education of China highly commended the fruitful results of CAMPUS Asia and made some suggestions for the future development of this scheme.

Yusaku Ayako, educational counsellor of Embassy of Japan in China and Son Sangho, educational counsellor of Embassy of Republic of Korea in China, expressed the support of Japan and Korea respectively for CAMPUS Asia.

Professor Wang Bo, vice president of Peking University, introduced PKU’s participation in CAMPUS Asia and provided suggestions for further construction of the China Secretariat.

After the opening ceremony, Chinese, Japanese and Korean experts from 12 universities carried out in-depth exchanges and discussion revolving around the topics of “Credit Transfer and Degree Cooperation in the Training of Transnational Talents on Asian Campuses”, “Cultivation of Multilingual and Interdisciplinary Talents in Asia”, “The Construction of Transnational Higher Education Cooperation Mechanism based on Asian Experiences”, and “Future Development of Education in Asia in the Post-Pandemic Era”.

As a platform for diversifying cooperation, CAMPUS Asia has effectively promoted in-depth cooperation in the field of higher education between China, Japan and Korea over the past decade, accumulating valuable experiences in facilitating quality exchanges and cooperation between Chinese, Japanese and Korean universities and enhancing mutual understanding among the youth.
