Peking University, 29 December, 2021: The 2021 International Contest on Blended Teaching & Learning (ICBTL 2021) was held online on December 18th and 19th. Candidates from China, UK, Japan, USA, Singapore and Egypt participated in the contest’s final defense via Zoom.
Initiated
by Peking University, ICBLT is held to encourage teaching reform and
the implementation of new teaching methods. The contest provides
teachers around the world great opportunities to broaden their horizons
and draw on experiences from the teaching practices of other teachers
around the world.
Xia
Hongwei, director of the Office of International Relations in Peking
University, delivered the welcome speech and expressed his hopes to
establish solid relations with Peking University’s partner schools. Sun
Hua, director of the center for excellent teaching and learning,
introduced the objective of this contest and expressed his gratitude
towards all judges and contestants for their participation. Due to the
pandemic, teaching approaches combining online and offline courses have
become a new norm. Therefore, ICBTL aims to find outstanding examples of
this hybrid teaching by offering a platform for them to be shared and
discussed.
Since registration
opened in October, ICBTL has received a large number of applications
from universities teachers worldwide. The contest is divided into two
stages: preliminary stage and final defense stage, with separate
divisions for the English and Chinese groups. The judging panel is made
up of professionals from different fields from all over the world who
attended the finals and offered critical feedback on the contestants’
presentations. The participants’ detailed efforts reflected the
innovative ideas and fresh views on curriculum design and teaching
reforms in today’s era, and paired with insights from the judges,
sparked a wonderful collision of ideas and perspectives, serving as a
valuable reference for all teachers from China and around the world.
