PKU holds Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign experts and scholars exchange meeting

Peking University, May 17, 2022: The Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign experts and scholars’ exchange meeting was held on 3rd May, as part of events celebrating Peking University’s 124th anniversary. The meeting was hosted by PKU Vice President Wang Bo, and was attended by PKU President Hao Ping, Executive Vice President Gong Qihuang, representatives of the PKU experts and scholars from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign countries, as well as staff members from relevant departments.

With the meeting underway, PKU scholars and experts from 8 disciplines actively participated in a discussion on working life and living experiences in PKU as well as PKU’s future direction of development in various fields including talent nurturing, team building and international exchange. All participants reached a consensus on how much they enjoyed working in PKU, particularly in teaching and interacting with students as well as working part of a team to tackle new and innovative research projects. PKU not only provided a means for gaining a deeper understanding of China, but also allowed for the joyful experience of the rich Chinese culture. In addition, there was unanimous praise for PKU’s proactive approach to pandemic control which allowed for campus life to proceed as normal, preventing the disruption of teaching and learning activities. All participants also expressed their most sincere gratitude towards PKU and respective departments for all the support and assistance offered to them.

Towards the end of the meeting, President Hao Ping gave his most heartfelt gratitude and praise for the experts’ and scholars’ hard work and contributions to the development of PKU. In this era of pandemic, all scholars have proactively overcome various obstacles and excelled in carrying out teaching and research responsibilities. PKU will continue to build a warm and welcoming environment for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign experts by caring more for their needs and providing immediate assistance should any situation arise. Owing to the current severity of the pandemic, PKU will continue strictly adhering to the anti-pandemic policies, working with all staff and students in this battle against the virus.
As the exchange came to a close, Hao Ping, Gong Qihuang and Wang Bo, presented each participating scholar and expert with a token of appreciation, and extended their warmest festive regards to all Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign experts part of the PKU community.
