Peking University, March 6, 2025: Professor Wang Huali from Peking University Sixth Hospital was granted Prize for the Promotion of Healthy Ageing by World Health Organization (WHO), and will be attending the award ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland, in May, 2025. Notably, Professor Wang is the first individual from China to receive the prize.
Beijing Medical Award Foundation and Peking University Sixth Hospital jointly launched SUCCEED, a public welfare project on supporting and caring for people with dementia. Through this project, Professor Wang has advocated for greater attention to be paid to caregivers, providing them with scientific trainings on skills and pressure relief, so as to bring hope for improvement to patients and their families.
Professor Wang has generously decided to endow the SUCCEED project with the prize money to reward model caregivers, as she owes the glory of winning this prize to “the invaluable cultivation and insights she amassed from the experiences of numerous patients and their families in the course of the prevention and treatment of dementia.”
The prize was awarded to Professor Wang and her team with Peking University Sixth Hospital in recognition of their commitment to promoting healthy ageing, especially for those living with dementia, as well as China’s contribution to responding to population ageing.
