Peking University, September 3, 2025: Peking University (PKU) hosted a colloquium on August 30 commemorating the 75th anniversary of establishment of China-India diplomatic relations. The event drew close to 100 students, teachers, young scholars, and industry professionals from both China and India, and from prominent institutions, highlighting the burgeoning cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Li Shujing, Party Secretary of the School of Foreign Languages of Peking University, and Zhang Hui, Deputy Director of the Asia-Africa Center of China Media Group, opened the event with their speeches. They reviewed the historical and current cultural exchanges between the two countries, expressing their best wishes for the development of China-India friendship. They also emphasized that in the digital age, the youth of China and India should shoulder the mission of passing on the torch of civilization, inspire each other in the dialogue of civilizations, and jointly develop in the integration of cultures.
The event featured two dialogue sessions, conducted in English and Hindi respectively. The speakers shared insights rooted in personal and professional experience, from academic analyses of China-India cultural exchange to first-hand stories of living, studying, and working across borders.
The speakers, including PKU scholar Huang Lele, who lived and studied in India for 11 years, and Sharma Ram Niranjan, a famous Indian Youtuber, emphasized the importance of strengthening mutual trust and empowering the youth to carry forward civilization dialogue. Language learning and leveraging new media, as key interaction approaches, were also highlighted as ways to enhance mutual understanding and deepen bilateral relations.
In addition to the discussions, the event also featured engaging interactive segments. A stand-up comedy and a China-India trivia during the intermission enlivened the atmosphere and drew enthusiastic participation from the audience.
This dialogue served as a valuable platform for friendly exchanges between Chinese and Indian youth and for mutual learning between the two countries. Attendees expressed anticipation for more such events in the future, to further promote communication and cooperation among young people of both nations.
