Peking University, October 22, 2025: The Global Master in Management (MiM) information session was held at Peking University on October 19. Nearly a hundred outstanding students from around the world took part in the event.
The event featured Liu Qiao, Dean and Professor of Finance; Zhou Li-An, Professor of Applied Economics and Director of PKU’s Economic & Management Division; Xu Xinzhong, Professor of Finance; and Wang Dongxia, Assistant to the Dean and Executive Director of the Career Development Center/MBA/DBA — all from Guanghua School of Management.
Welcome Speech
Liu Qiao, Dean of Guanghua School of Management, Peking University
Dean Liu Qiao opened the event with a keynote speech titled “Transforming Business Education in an Increasingly Fragmented World.” He emphasized that in the face of global challenges such as climate change and the reshaping of globalization, business education must evolve. Quoting J.R.R. Tolkien, he described education as “a never-ending story,” underscoring the Global MiM program as Guanghua’s strategic response to a new era.
Keynote Speaker
Zhou Li-An, Professor of Applied Economics, Guanghua School of Management, Peking University
Zhou Li-An delivered a presentation titled “Unlocking Success: Understanding Government–Business Relations in China,” analyzing China’s unique economic model and regional development mechanisms. Through case studies such as Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory, he illustrated how local governments attract leading enterprises with tailored policies, summarizing the approach as “Think national, Act local.”
MiM Program Insights
Xu Xinzhong, Professor of Finance, Guanghua School of Management, Peking University
Xu Xinzhong highlighted a critical shift in the global business landscape: while multinational corporations have long entered China, Chinese companies are now expanding globally, creating a strong demand for international management talent. The Global MiM program is designed to cultivate future business leaders with a global perspective, social responsibility, and sharp business acumen. He concluded with an inspiring call: “To Dare, To Explore; Together, To Define the Future.”
