Nobel Laureate Gregg Semenza Visits Peking University Health Science Center

Peking University, November 20, 2025: Gregg L. Semenza, Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and 2019 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, delivered a lecture at Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC) on November 11, where he elaborated on the key mechanisms of Hypoxia-Inducible Factors (HIF) in tumor initiation and progression, and the latest advances in targeted therapy.



In a lively interactive session following the report, Professor Semenza answered questions from faculty and students regarding to the translational prospects of HIF-targeted drugs, drug resistance mechanisms, and combination therapy strategies. He encouraged young scholars to boldly explore cutting-edge issues in tumor biology.



This lecture was part of the “Dialogue with Nobel Laureates” program, organized by PKUHSC. 

The program aims to promote international research cooperation and contribute to the broader academic community by providing opportunities of direct engagement with top scholars.
