Peking University, December 22, 2025: On the morning of December 17, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region John Lee Ka-Chiu and his delegation visited Peking University. He Guangcai, Chair of the Peking University Council, welcomed the guests at the Peking University Faculty House (PKUFH) by the shores of the Weiming Lake.
He Guangcai extended a warm welcome to John Lee and his delegation and expressed gratitude for the care and support extended by the Hong Kong SAR government and various sectors of society to Peking University. He emphasized that Peking University will focus on student training, technological innovation, and collaborative exchanges, saying that these efforts will contribute to Hong Kong’s development as an international innovation and technology hub.

John Lee thanked Peking University for its longstanding support of Hong Kong’s development and highly commended the university’s influence in education.
He stated that the Hong Kong SAR government is proactively aligning with the national “15th Five-Year Plan,” vigorously advancing Hong Kong’s development as an international innovation and technology hub, and promoting the integrated growth of education, technology, and talent. He welcomed Peking University’s participation in the construction of the “Northern Metropolis University Town” to jointly cultivate new quality productive forces, thereby achieving high-quality development.
Following the meeting, John Lee had breakfast with four Hong Kong youth representatives studying or working in Beijing. In a subsequent social media post, he wrote, “Exchanging ideas with young people under the century-old dome, alongside the Peking University emblem and the ‘Daxuetang’ plaque, was uniquely delightful.”
He highlighted the vast prospects for collaboration between Hong Kong and the mainland, supported by national policies and Hong Kong’s efforts to build an international innovation and technology hub. He encouraged the youth to seize opportunities, learn advanced technologies, accumulate experience, and dare to put their ideas into practice, and also urged them to continue leveraging their strengths to contribute to Hong Kong and the nation.
