Peking University, April 21, 2026: The 10th Yenching Global Symposium (YGS) officially commenced on April 17, marking a significant milestone for this student-led initiative. This year's YGS has brought together over 200 delegates from over 50 countries and regions for a three-day exchange themed "Harnessing Momentum: The Power to Act in a Changing World."
The opening ceremony began with a Chinese folk-dance performance by Peking University Dance Club, followed by an opening video made by the Executive Committee of YGS 2026, which offered a brief recap of the themes of previous YGSs and set an exploratory tone for this year's edition.
In his opening remarks, Dong Qiang, Dean of Yenching Academy of Peking University, expressed sincere gratitude for the distinguished guests in attendance and for the students and faculty who have helped organize the YGS. He then elaborated on this year's theme, specifically the symbolism of the Chinese character "势", which "reflects power and the dynamic potential of Chinese philosophy." He also extended his wishes for delegates to engage in vibrant and meaningful discussions throughout the symposium.
