Peking University, May 25, 2026: Gao Song has been appointed president of Peking University, with approval from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), replacing his predecessor Gong Qihuang.
Gao Song was born in February 1964 and holds a PhD in science. He is a professor and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Throughout his career, he has held several academic leadership positions, including vice president and executive vice president of Peking University, president of South China University of Technology, and president of Sun Yat-sen University. He also serves as vice chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology.
