Peking University, May 26, 2026: The Peking University team won championship at the 2026 ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge (ASC26), which concluded on May 20 in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province after 5 days of intense competition, reprising the title which they also won in 2023 and 2024. The team also received the e Prize for Computational Challenge.
 


The ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge is one of the world's largest and most influential supercomputing competitions. This year, more than 300 university teams from around the globe registered for the competition, while only 25 advanced to the final round. Teams were required to design and build their own supercomputing systems under a 5,000W power limit and complete multiple challenging tasks, including AI world models and gravitational wave numerical simulations.
 


In the designated e Prize Computational Challenge task — optimizing inference for the embodied intelligence world model UnifoLM-WMA-0 — the Peking University team delivered an especially impressive performance. The team members extensively refactored the underlying code, built an extremely compact, pure functional inference stack, and deeply customized the low-level graph compilation process to fully unleash GPU computing power. They also skillfully reduced the sampling steps for actions and videos, while combining this with an innovative generation-cache strategy to effectively balance inference speed and generation quality, attaining the best performance among all teams.
 

 


Founded in 2016, the Peking University Supercomputing Team has consistently pursued excellence and innovation. Over the past decade, the team has won many outstanding victories. This latest championship once again demonstrates Peking University's strong capabilities in technological innovation and talent development.
