Peking University, June 29, 2026: On June 18, 2026, the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts held a certificate presentation ceremony for its newly elected members. Professor Meng Jie from Peking University’s School of Physics was elected a foreign member of the Academy. Chinese Ambassador to Croatia Qi Qianjin also attended the ceremony.
The certificate was presented by Velimir Neidhardt, president of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Founded in 1866, the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts elects new members every two years to recognize outstanding international scholars. Professor Meng was elected in recognition of his achievements in nuclear physics and his contributions to academic exchange between China and Croatia. He is the first Chinese scholar to receive this honor from the Academy.
