Peking University, August 14, 2026: Professor Zhong Shengyang of Peking University's Department of Philosophy has been awarded the 2026 Birkhoff–von Neumann Prize by the International Quantum Structures Association (IQSA) for his outstanding contributions to quantum logic and the mathematical foundations of quantum theory.



The IQSA recognized Zhong's original research on the logical and algebraic structures underlying quantum theory, highlighting the mathematical rigor and conceptual clarity of his work. The 2026 prize has two recipients, with the other recipient being Dr. Nicholas Ormrod from the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Canada.

Zhong is currently an associate professor at Peking University's Department of Philosophy. His research focuses on the relational semantics of Birkhoff–von Neumann quantum logic, as well as related issues in the foundations of quantum theory.
