PKU Shines in the Chinese University Rankings by Subjects 2015

Peking University, May 24, 2015: In the latest Chinese University Rankings by Subjects, Peking University again demonstrates its unrivalled academic strength by ranking top in five individual disciplines: science, medicine, law history and literature. The rankings were part of a report published by the Chinese Alumni Network (www.cuaa.net) in an attempt to provide the most authoritative resources and references for prospective students nationwide and abroad.
When students finish their college entrance examinations in June, their next task will be to decide which university to apply for and which major to choose. Situation has changed from the past when students tended to choose a college with the highest overall prestige rather than with special strength in their chosen major or specialty. Nowadays students place more emphasis on whether their favored discipline ranks high or not in the university they are aiming for. So rankings by subjects like this are becoming more and more helpful for students and their parents in choosing schools.
The report reviewed universities in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan based on their integrated strength, management standards, education quality and schooling characteristics in each major and gave a rating for each university. It pointed out that, Peking University is the best university in Mainland China, with five majors achieving top spot in China: Science, Medicine, Law, History and Literature, while Tsinghua University ranked top in Management and Engineering. Renmin University has the best economics and philosophy major, and China Agricultural University owns the best agriculture major.
