Peking University, Feb 3, 2016: On Jan 20, 2016, marking the 10th anniversary of the death of the famous scientist Wang Xuan, the opening ceremony of “the Course of Innovation” Exhibition of Wang Xuan Memorial Hall was held in Beijing.
Han Qide, vice-chairman of the CPPCC, Lin Jianhua, President of Peking University, Chen Kunqiu, Wang Xuan’s wife, professor at ICST (Institute of Computer Science and Technology) of PKU and the representative of Wang Xuan’s relatives, Zhang Zhaodong, Chairman of Founder Group， Xie Kehai, President of Founder Group and other members of Board of directors, Xiao Jianguo, professor at ICST, Guo Zongming, President at ICST and Ye Zhiyuan, Secretary at ICST attended the ceremony held in the Founder Building and visited the new exhibition.

Guo Zongming conducted the ceremony. Han Qide, Lin Jianhua, Chen Kunqiu, Zhang Zhaodong and Guo Zongming unveiled “the Course of Innovation” exhibition. Han Qide, Lin Jianhua and other participants gave speeches at the ceremony. Speakers recalled the tough course of innovation and the precious spiritual wealth of Wang Xuan and wished the ceremony success.

After the speeches, Han Qide, Lin Jianhua and other participants visited the exhibition hall accompanied by Prof. Chen Kunqiu. After the visit, Han Qide and Lin Jianhua wrote inscriptions for the hall.
“The Course of Innovation” Exhibition of Wang Xuan Memorial Hall is on the 3rd floor of the Founder Building, occupying an area of 180 square meters. Combining with the “Life Story” Exhibition completed in 2007, the two exhibitions form an organic whole.
Visiting the exhibition
The new exhibition presents the glorious history of how the researchers represented by Wang Xuan, under the leadership of Central Government, developed a laser typesetting system for Chinese characters, pushed science research into industry and eventually evoked the great revolution of Chinese character information processing and printing. The exhibits are rich and precious, most of which came from the collection and donation from Prof. Chen Kunqiu and also were supported by the Chinese Printing Technology Association and the Chinese Printing Museum. Besides, lots of techniques are demonstrated in the exhibition to provide visitors with an amazing experience.

Innovation is not only part of our history; it is the key to our future. Wang Xuan has set a great example for us. The completion of “The Course of Innovation” exhibition of Wang Xuan memorial hall will inspire more science researchers to inherit and explore.

On Feb 13, 2006, the famous scientist Wang Xuan passed away. To encourage more people, especially young generations, the ICST of PKU and Founder Group proposed and built the “Life Story” Exhibition of Wang Xuan Memorial Hall jointly, which was officially opened on Feb. 13th, 2007, after one year of Wang Xuan’s death.
The “Life Story” Exhibition of Wang Xuan Memorial Hall is on the 4th floor of the Founder Building in Zhongguancun, occupying an area of about 100 square meters.The style is simple but elegant. The inscription of the exhibition hall was written by Han Qide, who was Vice Chairman of NPC and Chairman of the Central Committee of Jiusan Society at that time. Through valuable notes, pictures and objects, the exhibition shows Wang Xuan’s life of selfless devotion. Since its opening, the exhibition has received thousands of visitors from different fields and is highly thought of.
