Peking University, May. 27, 2014: Edward Byrne, president of Monash University, along with Shane A Thomas, vice-dean of Monash healthy department visited Peking University (PKU), and President Edward Byrne was appointed a guest professor by Peking University Health Science Center (PUHSC) on May 16th.
Li Yansong, the vice-president of PKU welcomed them. During the meeting, they shared opinions around the theme of cooperation, both of them expressed the hope to deepen the current cooperation and extend wider related fields to establish new cooperation, such as the field of public health, stem cells and pharmacy.
Professor Li spoke highly of the achievement from Edward Byrne, and appreciated the efforts he made to promote the cooperation between Monash and PKU, especially the projects about medical treatment, teaching and student cultivation. At last, President Liinvited President Edward Byrne to be a guest professor in PUHSC,
Afterwards, President Edward Byrne delivered a speech titled The Winds of Change for Great Universities, the Information Revolution, Globalization and the Rise of Asia in the Graduate School of Education.
Monash University, established in 1961, is the largest national university in Australia and is famous forits academic research capability. Besides, Monash is the member of Australia's Group of Eight.
