Peking University, May 15, 2019: On the morning of April 25, 2019, the signing ceremony for strategic cooperation between Institute of Social Science Survey (ISSS), Peking University and Institute of Market Economy, Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC) was held at the DRC.

The DRC is a policy research center governed directly by the State Council. The Institute of Market Economy, as an important research department of the DRC, is dedicated to conducting research and objectively interpreting major theoretical and practical issues involved in China’s market economic reform and development. It also provides advisory opinions to the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council.
The ISSS of PKU has a professional social science survey team that uses the latest survey techniques in the world. The institute also has a rich experience in conducting social survey and empirical research.
Wang Anshun, vice minister of the DRC, and Wang Yanglin, vice president of PKU, attended the signing ceremony. During the ceremony, Wang Anshun introduced the DRC and the Institute of Market Economy. He pointed out that Institute of Social Science Survey of PKU and Institute of Market Economy of the DRC should carry out the agreement and provide high-quality researches for the central government to reference. Wang Yanglin introduced the strengths and achievements of ISSS. Peking University has put a lot of efforts in conducting policy research and building think tanks, said Vice President Wang.
The strategic partnership combines the strengths of the two institutes, namely, DRC’s research strength and ISSS’s strength in data. The two institutes’ future cooperation in research and think tank projects on the basis of survey data will effectively advance the research on China’s economic and social transformation and provide scientific support for policy decision-making. It will also cultivate ISSS’s and PKU’s ability to build modern think tanks and to serve the country’s strategies in the field of humanities and social sciences.
