Peking University, September 28, 2021: On the afternoon of September 20 2021, President Hao Ping of Peking University and President Aiji Tanaka of Waseda University held a video conference, aiming to promote stronger partnership between the two universities.
President Hao Ping extended cordial greetings to President Aiji Tanaka. He pointed out that Peking University and Waseda University have been carrying out friendly exchanges for many years. In recent years, both schools have held joint programs in many fields, including Campus Asia, Asian youth exchange programs, Sino-Japanese joint training programs for innovative talents, programs from the Confucius Institute and the Global Classroom, all of which have achieved fruitful results. President Hao Ping looks forward to the end of the pandemic, hoping that both schools can resume in-person communication. He also invited President Aiji Tanaka to visit Peking University thereafter.

On the livestream, President Aiji Tanaka expressed his gratitude, and promised support for the partner programs. Of the like, the PKU Global Classroom is a new form of international cooperation that provides opportunities to propel partnerships and meaningful exchanges between higher institutions around the globe. Waseda University is honored to be part of the first batch of universities to join the program. With nearly 30 students currently taking elective courses under the program, President Tanaka is optimistic about future cooperation.

Other officials in attendance of the conference included vice-president of Peking University, Wang Bo, as well as vice-president of Waseda University, Masahiko Gemma.
