PKU and HSE sign cooperation agreements in conjunction with the China-Russia Year of Innovation

Peking University, December 8, 2021: The closing ceremony of the China-Russia Year of Scientific and
Technological Innovation was held online on November 26th, 2021 and
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin
respectively sent congratulatory letters. In his message, Putin
underlined that the establishment of the China-Russia Mathematics Center
was one of the principal results from the cooperation comprising more
than one thousand academic activities. Chinese Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan
and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko attended the
closing ceremony and delivered speeches, while witnessing the signing of
cooperation agreements in related fields.
As an important part of the China-Russia Mathematics Center, President
Hao Ping of Peking University and First Vice-Rector Vadim Radaev of the
Russian National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE)
signed a student exchange agreement on behalf of the two universities.
The agreement will strengthen and develop student exchange programs
between the two universities’, aiming to cultivate world-class
scientific and mathematical talents with pioneering spirit and
international vision.
During the China-Russia Year of Scientific and Technological Innovation,
the China-Russia Mathematics Center was established on June 29th, 2020.
The Center held regular academic forums such as the “Beijing-Moscow
Mathematics Colloquium”, “Beijing-St. Petersburg Mathematics
Colloquium”, “Beijing-Novosibirsk seminar on geometry and mathematical
physics”. A number of well-known professors and distinguished young
scholars from both countries were invited to deliver academic reports. A
series of Seminars were organized, in which authoritative experts held
in-depth communication. The Center has also established several
partnerships with leading universities and institutes all over the
countries, gathering the strengths of China and Russia in field of
scientific and technological innovation. This will aid in developing
mathematics research, cultivating talents and improving the innovation
capacity of China and Russia.
Looking ahead, the China-Russia Mathematics Center will further
consolidate the cooperative achievements made during the China-Russia
Year of Scientific and Technological Innovation. The Center would like
to build a world-class platform for mathematical research and
cooperation, talent exchange and cultivation.
