Peking University, June 14, 2023: On behalf of Qiao Jie, executive vice president of Peking University (PKU) and president of PKU Health Science Center (PKUHSC), Sun Qiudan, director of PKUHSC Office of International Cooperation, recently visited Portugal’s University de Coimbra (UC) and met with representatives from Macau Polytechnic University (MPU).

During her visit, Sun highlighted that PKUHSC was willing to work with the Confucius Institute at UC to introduce Chinese medicine and Chinese health culture to Europe and the world. 

During the talks, the three institutions discussed specific issues such as cooperative translation and publication of popular science and books in the fields of Chinese medicine and health in Portuguese.

At the meeting, a signing ceremony was held among PKU, UC, and MPU. On behalf of their universities, UC President Amílcar Falcão and MPU Rector Im Sio Kei signed the TCM/Health Book Translation and Publishing Cooperation Agreement with PKUHSC respectively. 

Sun attended the ceremony on behalf of Qiao Jie and PKUHSC. Ao Leong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macau Special Administrative Region, was also present at the signing ceremony.

On the occasion of PKU’s “Global Engagement Year,” the signing of this agreement is conducive to facilitating the understanding of Chinese medicine and promoting cooperation in Portuguese-speaking countries and regions.
