Peking University, December 26, 2023: Recently, a delegation of three experts, including Professor José A Morais, former president of the Canadian Geriatrics Society and director of the Department of Geriatrics at McGill University in Canada, and Professor Liu Junli from the Department of Medicine and Pathology at McGill University Health Center, visited the Endocrinology Department of Peking University Third Hospital (PKUTH).
 

During the visit, Professor José A Morais delivered a lecture on clinical research, focusing on the research progress in insulin resistance, protein metabolism, sarcopenia and other diseases in patients with diabetes and elderly patients. 

In a question and answer session, a heated discussion was conducted on various cutting-edge topics including the choice of drugs for diabetes, skeletal muscle and insulin resistance, Glucose Clamp, and potential new treatment strategies for sarcopenia. 

Following the session, Professor Liu Junli gave an online lecture on basic research, introducing the research progress in the field of islet regeneration.

The visit and two lectures are the first international exchange since the Department of Endocrinology of PKUTH was awarded the National Key Clinical Specialty Construction Project.
