Peking University, December 26, 2023: On the evening of Dec. 20, 2023, Peking University (PKU) held the 2024 International Students and Foreign Experts New Year’s Party at the Elites Banquet Hall of Zhongguanyuan Global Village.
Peking University President Gong Qihuang attended the party, and celebrated the New Year with more than 400 foreign experts and scholars, international students, representatives of international student alumni, as well as guests from different sectors inside and outside the campus.

Before the official start of the party, the guests present experienced traditional Chinese customs. Foreign experts and students made dumplings, wrote the Chinese character "Fu", and solved the lantern riddles. All of the guests appreciated the profoundness of Chinese culture in a cheerful atmosphere.

Following the cultural experience session, the Peking University Student Art Troupe Folk Music Orchestra treated the audience to a captivating folk music ensemble. The performers wove an auditory tapestry, infusing the evening with a festive spirit.
The hosts for the evening took the stage, marking the official start of the New Year Party. Everyone was immersed in the wonderful performances and had a wonderful evening together.

During the party, three guests from PKU were interviewed about their wishes for the coming year:
Brent Haas, associate dean of PKU Yenching Academy hoped everyone has a productive and fun 2024!

“Dear PKU international students, the teachers and students of PKU will be with you and wish you progress!” said Wu Zhixiang, deputy director of the General Affairs Office of PKU Health Science Center.
The year 2023 is the "Global Engagement Year" of Peking University and the 20th anniversary of PKU International Culture Festival. PKU International Culture Festival has continuously enriched the content and organization of its activities, providing a platform for exchanges and mutual understanding of different cultures from all over the world. At the party, awards were presented to the best booths at the 2022 and 2023 PKU International Culture Festival.
