Peking University, May 20, 2024: Marking a decade of fostering global talent in China, the Yenching Academy of Peking University (PKU) held a commemorative symposium under the theme of “Scholarly Symphony” at the PKU Hall on May 18, 2024.
“Scholarly Symphony” is a collection of students’ academic papers and signifies a culmination of interdisciplinary research and international collaboration. Authored by students from Australia, Brazil, Poland, Germany, the United States, South Africa, Japan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and China, the papers explore a wide spectrum of fields ranging from ancient Chinese literature to international economics.
Highlighting the Academy's commitment to nurturing independent researchers focused on China-related topics, Yenching Academy's Director of Graduate Studies, Prof. Lu Yang, commended the young co-authors of the symposium for embarking on venturous yet invaluable academic journeys. He expressed gratitude to Bao Yan, president of Huawen Publishing House, for their support in bringing this collection to fruition.
In the past decade, Yenching Academy's growth has been propelled by support from various stakeholders such as the China Scholarship Council and the Bai Xian Education Fund. Attracting renowned experts and scholars from around the world, the academy has enriched its academic landscape and bolstered its international reputation.
Reflecting on the Academy's global reach, Prof. Lu Yang underscored the importance of internationalization in contemporary higher education. With an annual enrolment of approximately 120 students from more than 30 countries and regions, Yenching Academy serves as a hub for cross-cultural exchange and the pursuit of first-hand China Experience, he underlined.
