PKU academician Qiao Jie and Hong Kong tech experts celebrate 75th birthday of the People’s Republic of China

Peking University, September 28, 2024: From September 27 to 28, a series of celebratory events were held by the Hong Kong Science and Technology sector to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Qiao Jie, executive vice president of Peking University, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and vice chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, attended the events. HKSAR government officials Michael WONG Wai-lun, acting financial secretary and Sun Dong, secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Wang Weiming, director of the Education, Science and Technology Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR, Chiu Cuncan, member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, Huang Yushan, chairman of the Preparatory Committee, and LO Wai-kwok, chairman of the Executive Committee of the National Day Celebration of the Hong Kong science and technology sector, also attended the celebrations.
A tech forum under the theme of "New-quality Productivity: Challenges and Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area" was held, and Qiao Jie was invited to give a report. In her report, titled "Guidance and Inspiration of New-quality Productivity to the Development Direction of China's Medical Science and Technology," Qiao analyzed the population health situation faced by the world and the development needs of national medical science and technology.
Qiao Jie pointed out that we should focus on the three elements of cultivating new productive forces to strengthen the internal driving force for the future development of disciplines. About 700 people including representatives from relevant government departments, universities, enterprises, and science and technology groups in Hong Kong attended the event.
