Delegation from the University of Manchester visits PKU to advance partnership

Peking University, March 4, 2025: Duncan Ivison, President of the University of Manchester, led a delegation to visit Peking University, and met with PKU President Gong Qihuang on February 25, 2025, to discuss advancing partnership.

Gong extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He reflected on PKU’s longstanding partnership with the University of Manchester, and looked forward to taking it further in scientific research and innovation, interdisciplinary research, sustainable development, digital and intelligent education, etc.

Ivison noted that collaborations between universities are of great significance in today’s complex global context where technologies see rapid development, and expressed the University of Manchester’s commitment to build closer relation with Peking University to tackle global challenges such as climate change and public health crisis. He delivered a keynote speech at Yingjie Overseas Exchange Center on “What will define great universities in the 21st century” and participated in a medical seminar.

During the visit, the two universities signed a memorandum of understanding to promote collaboration through exchange visits, joint research, and collaborative doctoral training.
