Peking University, March 4, 2025: Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the United Nations University (UNU) and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, visited Peking University on February 25, 2025, and was received by He Guangcai, Chair of the Peking University Council.
He Guangcai highlighted the achievements the two universities made in global education and research, and looked forward to strengthening collaboration through joint research, student and scholar exchanges, etc., seeking new insights into global governance.
Tshilidzi Marwala made approving remarks on the advancements Peking University achieved in talent cultivation, academic research and international collaboration, and expressed his willingness to take the opportunity of UNU’s 50th anniversary year to deepen partnership with PKU on frontiers of science, such as AI and sustainable development.
Before the meeting, Tshilidzi Marwala delivered a speech titled “AI, Sustainable Development and Their Future” at the School of International Studies, exploring the potential of applying AI to meet sustainable development goals.
