Peking University Welcomes Delegation from University of Strathclyde

Peking University, April 10, 2025: A delegation led by Professor Sir Jim McDonald, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde from the United Kingdom, visited Peking University on April 7, where they were received by Gong Qihuang, President of Peking University. The two sides conducted a series of discussions on deepening cooperation.

Crediting McDonald with fostering Sino-British exchanges in science, technology, and education in recent years, Gong expressed expectations to deepen collaboration between the two schools as PKU is racing ahead in frontier areas.



McDonald thanked PKU for the warm reception, and emphasized the University of Strathclyde's commitment to strengthening its partnership with PKU particularly in environmental sciences, energy systems, smart manufacturing, applied engineering, and cross-cultural communication.
The delegation also toured the campus with PKU officials and learned about the school’s latest research in artificial intelligence, computer architecture, and micro-nano photonics.



Later that day, McDonald gave a lecture briefing University of Strathclyde's research against a backdrop of a new round of industrial revolution, with a focus on the future of advanced manufacturing and engineering, education, and innovation.
