PKU Joins The 8th Australia-China CEO Round-table Meeting

Peking University, July 22, 2025: Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended the 8th Australia-China CEO Round-table Meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on July 15. He Guangcai, Chair of Peking University Council, attended the meeting as the only university representative from the Chinese side, with nearly 30 Chinese and Australian chambers of commerce and business leaders in attendance.



This year marks the 10th anniversary of the signing of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement(FTA), Li Qiang said, adding that the economic and trade cooperation between the two sides has been full of resilience and vitality. Mr. Albanese indicated that China is Australia's largest trading partner, and the business community of the two countries is enthusiastic about cooperation. 

Both sides hope that cooperation can be strengthened in areas including artificial intelligence and green development, to promote market and industrial integration, and to jointly address the challenges of future economic development.

He Guangcai said that Peking University has cultivated new momentum for the high-quality development through cooperation with Australian universities in scientific research. In the future, universities of the two countries will further enrich the areas of cooperation to provide stronger support and solutions to regional and even global challenges.
