Peking University, August 27, 2025: On August 20, the signing ceremony for the establishment of the Arts and Technology Development Project was held at Bangkok, Thailand. Jointly initiated by the Institute for Cultural Industries, Peking University (PKU), and the Assumption University of Thailand (AU), the Project aims to promote in-depth collaboration and interdisciplinary innovation in areas such as digital cultural creativity, artificial intelligence applications, and rural sustainable development.
The Arts and Technology Development Project was established on the basis of the
Discipline and Research Development Cooperation Agreement between both institutions. The Project will be managed by PKU to support academic research, talent development, and social service activities in the cross-disciplinary fields of arts and technology.
The Project will focus on advancing cultural–technology integration, expanding artificial intelligence applications, upgrading cultural and creative industries, and supporting research activities at the UNESCO International Workstation on Rural Creativity and Sustainable Development (Thailand). Specific initiatives will include joint training programs, academic forums, field trips, and creative design workshops.
In his remarks, Chanintorn Jittawiriyanukoon, Vice President of AU, highlighted that the partnership with PKU is a key step in AU’s internationalization strategy and research innovation. Xiang Yong, Dean of Institute for Cultural Industries, PKU, also noted on the integration of arts and technology as a key driver of global innovation.
The establishment of the Arts and Technology Development Project is not only a significant milestone in higher education collaboration between China and Thailand, but also a practical response to the Belt and Road Initiative. Moving forward, both universities will leverage on this platform to advance new models and pathways of arts-technology integration in the digital era, thereby contributing to regional sustainable development and the global academic community.
